Embroidery is more than a hobby – it gives everyone the opportunity to discover themselves and freely develop their own creativity. Along with the productive and creative aspect, the pleasure of one's own creation and the feeling of having created something unique, embroidery offers one thing above all: rest and relaxation from everyday stress. Embroidery directs all attention towards oneself and the work to be created – you can disconnect, leave everyday life behind and forget everything around you for a brief moment. Embroidery is yoga for the soul.
The basis of any embroidery are fabrics for manual work on which any technique can be applied. They have a very clear surface structure and have been woven in a square shape, that is, the weft and warp have the same number of threads.
The main characteristic of ZWEIGART® embroidery fabrics is maximum ease of counting, which is achieved thanks to precise weaving of the fabrics. This is especially important with cross stitch designs. When embroidering on fabrics for manual work, openwork embroidery is usually done with one or two threads of fabric. Almost all Zweigart craft fabrics have a firmer finish so they can be embroidered easily without a frame. Once washed, fabrics soften and may even shrink slightly; this must be taken into account. As a general rule, for embroidered fabrics the care instructions for the threads used should always be taken into account.
We offer a very varied assortment of fabrics for manual work, such as Aida, linen or fabrics with counted stitches and a wide palette of current colors. The collection is continually adapted to new trends.
